Program Description

Event Details

This program is designed specifically to go along with our Summer Reading program! Geared for grade 3-8, the Lancaster Science Factory will rotate youth through stations such as salt painting, color mixing trays, and shadow boxes.

Salt Painting:
Kids will work with watercolors and salt to create super creative and textured paintings! They will be using stencils or are encouraged to come up with original paintings.

Color Mixing Trays:
Kids will use library books with colorful covers to create and mix colors on their mixing trays to try and match the colors on the covers. A possibility of 24 color combinations can be reached! The primary colors are made with fizzing color tablets and water.

Shadow Boxes:
Kids will work with pre-folded boxes and need to be in a darker area maybe under a covered table or something like that. The kids will work with different objects & a light to cast different shadows inside the box. This activity is really free explore and has so many possibilities!

Ages 8+.

Registration required. Limit 25 youth. Each youth must be registered individually.

Part of our 2025 Summer Reading program series.
