Milanof-Schock Library will be participating in the Extraordinary Give on Friday, November 21. One extraordinary day each year, for 24 hours, Lancaster County is transformed into a community-wide celebration of generosity that supports hundreds of community benefit organizations like ours.
Milanof-Schock Public Library receives only 50% of its annual funding from government allocations, and the rest is up to us. We use ExtraGive donations for anything from paying for heat and air conditioning to purchasing materials for the public collection, from snow removal to lawn maintenance, and from electricity to paper products. Your donation helps keep the Library open to the public.
We hope that you will consider making a donation on this day. Whether it's $10 or more, you will be contributing to our library's future. And we thank you!
If you would like to make a donation to the Library but do not participate in the ExtraGive, we accept donations year-round!
Visit www.extragive.org on Friday, November 21 from 12am to 11:59pm.
Also, if you are wondering about the difference between Extra Give vs. Giving Tuesday? Both are great opportunities to support causes you care about, but they’re not the same event:
-Extra Give is a local 24-hour giving event focused on Lancaster County nonprofits. It happens once a year and is designed to celebrate and strengthen our community by supporting organizations right here at home. ExtraGive uses its own donation portal.
-Giving Tuesday is a global movement that encourages generosity worldwide. It takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and invites people everywhere to give back in any way—donations, volunteering, or acts of kindness. Giving Tuesday is platform-agnostic.
-In short: Extra Give = local impact, Giving Tuesday = global movement. Both make a big difference!
