Program Description

Event Details

All ages, please register every person attending. Children under 8 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Space is limited.

Join us for an afternoon that’s equal parts storytelling, history, and hands-on discovery. We welcome back Adam Zurn, local author/educator/blogger/entertainer/adventurer for a special opportunity to allow us all to experience being adventurers!

  • Start with a reading of Adam's new book, Canassatego and His Six Arrows based on real events that happened right here in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
  • Following the story, Adam will lead a show-and-tell segment where kids can get up close with the tools of the trade. He will unpack his modern-day adventurer’s backpack and share the gear he uses when trekking through dark culverts, riverside cliffs, and ruins across Lancaster County. Curious minds can ask questions and even handle the equipment!
  • Next up, it’s time for hands-on discovery! One of the interactive stations set up for young adventurers will be a Petroglyph Rubbing Station. Inspired by the ancient Safe Harbor petroglyphs, children can create crayon rubbings from laser-engraved replica carvings of these mysterious Native American rock designs.

Adventures beneath the surface await at your library! There will be opportunties to purchase copies of Adam's book that will also support our library!
