Program Description
Event Details
Ages 2-6 with caregiver. Other family members are welcome.
This is a passive "playscape" based upon a program from the Office of Commonwealth Libraries. Come and enjoy the activities that are set up for this program. It is designed for the caregiver to play with the child, with suggestions for how to enrich the literacy experiences. This session will look at the concept of homes. Children and parents will have the opportunity to play with storytelling puppets and a flannel board retelling set, build with a Blocks & Blueprints Learning Center, play a rhyming sounds game with picture cards and sorting houses, and read fictional and informational books together. Narrative skills and comprehension, imagination, spatial and problem-solving skills, phonological awareness, content area vocabulary and background knowledge are strengthened as parents and children play and learn together.
Registration is not required but if space is limited, registered families will be prioritized.
