Program Description

Event Details

Everything you wanted to know about Pennsylvania baseball in the 19th century…but didn’t think to ask. Sports historian Mark Stewart looks at how the game was played, who was playing it, and the Columbia hometown hero who introduced organized baseball to the Susquehanna Valley.

Followed on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. by an 1864 Vintage Base Ball doubleheader at Janson Park between the Keystones of Harrisburg and the Monmouth Furnace—both teams pictured during their 2023 meeting in Freehold, NJ.
