Program Description

Event Details

Columbia and Wrightsville are two river towns separated by a mile long bridge located just to the southeast in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. At the time, this was the longest covered bridge in the world. This bridge was the focal point for Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia. Lee could attack Harrisburg, Lancaster, Philadelphia, and potentially Washington.

What happened though? Why was this attack not successful? How does Gettysburg fit into all of this?

Join Local Columbia Civil War Historian Cindy Beaston as she presents The Skirmish That Turned the Tide.
