Dr. Robert Frick, local historian, author, and retired Lampeter Strasburg School District Superintendent, has developed a number of lecture series to inform and entertain you with objective, non-partisan content.  This series focuses on the modern American Presidency.

The framers of the U.S. Constitution were wary of the Executive Branch, the most likely source of tyranny in the government. Having escaped the authority of a king, they wanted no more of it or an executive who would dominate the new government; thus, the careful wording of Article II. As leaders, Presidents need to communicate with the public, build a team, be assertive, create overarching goals, process information, and manage their emotions. These qualities come in varying degrees and sundry types with each new President. Historians believe it takes 20 years to properly evaluate a presidency, therefore this series culminates with the 43rd president.
